Hi folks,
I just post a article in Yeti website on Fault-tolerant Distribution Master
Architecture (FDMA).
http://yeti-dns.org/yeti/blog/2018/08/13/fault-tolerant-distribution-master-
architecture.html
It is a new view to revisit current Yeti Multi-DM model. There are three
issues analyzed on current DM system: 1) adding more ZSK increases DNS
response which may will cause packets dropping at ~7% in Yeti testbed ; 2)
Three DM working independently without pre-publish checking causes the
failure probability upto three times higher. 3) The role of DM are
data-sensitive and the number of DM is only 3. It will raise the concern in
governance issue which should be avoided.
It is inferred that a fault-tolerant property is desired for future Yeti DM
architecture. Most specifically, a consensus should be achieved before any
signed zone be published among a group of entities. It is proposed in
conclusion that a Fault-tolerant Distribtion Master Architecuture (FDMA) is
worth of doing as an experiment and important property in Yeti’s future
agenda.
Best regards,
Davey
